Love Bite is a wonderfully different story for the vampire genre. I love that Kay Glass makes the main character a "real" woman who's dealt with weight issues and infertility. Sometimes, when a character is too perfect I find myself irritated by them instead of strongly relating to them. This was not the case here.Diandra is your average woman in her late twenties, who's just realized she and her husband of nine years have finally conceived. That good news is shattered by the sudden death of her husband Jonah. Enter Lizbeth, the homeless woman who discovers Jonah's body and also happens to be a former cop. As the two get to know each other and Diandra helps Lizbeth get back on her feet, they form a special friendship.
Things are starting to look up for Diandra as she carries the baby and falls in love with Lizbeth. Only one problem, her very jealous, supposedly dead husband shows up at the house and lashes out at his wife in jealousy of her new lover. After the attack she's got a load of other problems to deal with..a new baby, blood bags, fangs, and a suave new shape-shifting vampire of a mentor named Eamon. Let the fun begin!
I really enjoyed this book. The author does a wonderful job creating an engrossing story line and cultivating the relationship between Diandra and Lizbeth. She uses just the right amount of humor in her writing, and the result is an entertaining escape that reading a book should always be. I'm anxious to start the next book in the series to see what the future holds for these characters.

I got this for free a while back in the edition and just got around to reading it.
I am a fan of vampire stories, and this one seemed to have some promise.
It could have been a lot better but instead degenerated into a mediocre lesbian sex book and a mediocre vampire book.
It badly needs an editor to clean up the numerous issues with plausibility regarding police work. It could stand a pass through to deal with the typos as well. Typos were not too awful for a self published work, but they tend to jump out at me.
As vampires go, it was not especially plausible either. The vampires just had too many super powers.
It is unlikely I will read any follow on books.
Finished reading this last night and was glad I did. To me it started off a bit rough, but smoothed out towards the end. Couple times got confused in the beginning as to what was going on, but on the whole it's a great book and I look forward to reading the next two. Love the take on vampires and I'm not much of a vampire type reader. Keep up the writing, Kay. )
A seemingly perfect relationship is abruptly interrupted by the mysterious murder of a cop/husband. This story has so many twists and turns and a very strange introduction into the world of vampires. It takes you through a death, mourning and totally unexpected new love. It is a murder mystery, suspense, romance, erotica supernatural roller coaster that leaves you thinking. And the next book is even better.
I think this is a realistic story of loss, love and adaptation....
"Love Bite" is the first book in the "Just One Bite" series. Diandra's husband, Jonah, is killed the day she discovers that she's pregnant. Diandra befriends the homeless ex-cop, Lizabeth, and takes her in and helps her get on her feet. Turns out that Jonah isn't as dead as thought but a vampire who comes back to the house and, in a fit of rage, turns Diandra. What will this mean for the unborn baby and Diandra and Lizabeth's budding relationship?
Normally I can make an excuse for an author saying, "This is the first book of a series so she/he is getting to know the characters themselves." No need in this case. I think these are characters that Glass has been working on for a long time and knows them well so she's able to give us a very clear view of who they are in the novella form.
A lot of this story is Diandra losing Jonah and falling for Lizabeth. In a lot of romance stories you have that air rushing out of the lungs when they meet and instant attraction where you close the book and say, "Yeah, that's not gonna last." In the case of Diandra and Lizabeth we have a believable relationship. No one is perfect and they build on friendship and lead to love. The connection was well written and presented in a way that the reader could buy.
There are graphic sexual scenes. If you cannot see yourself reading lesbian sex, this series is likely not for you. There is a fair amount of sex in the first novel - though there's a lot going on overall so, really, if a reader is adverse to the coupling, it's something that could be skipped over with little lost from the story.
I do have a complaint in the first novel in that too much was made of Diandra's size. We get it, she's overweight. Her size was mentioned over and over again. I get why it was mentioned as she dropped 40 lbs when she turned into a vampire (where do I sign up for that weight loss program? Eternal life AND weight loss?) but it really felt like Glass wasn't sure we would remember for when the weight loss happened.
This was a good, solid, read. I suggest it be read with the second book because as a whole they get five stars. The second "Bitten by Regret" is REALLY good.
I really loved this story! If you are looking for a very different look at vampires then this is for you. From the very beginning I was engrossed in this story with the happenings in it. I don’t want to give any spoilers because that would take away from the reading experience of this story. Let’s just say that I had many…OH NO! moments and also YES! moments! I am now looking forward to reading more of this series by the wonderfully talented Kay Glass who has roped me into this series with this first novella!
Kay Glass has written a seriously funny book but at the same time there are heart-warming parts and great betrayal. A young widow discovers she's pregnant after the brutal murder of her husband; her loving husband is a drug dealing cop and is killed and returns as a vampire; and a woman framed for a crime she didn't commit combine to make this book compelling and a really good read. I definitely intend to get the next book in the Love Bite series. Love Bite (Just One Bite)
